To Possess by Faith what I could not earn.

There are two words you can't put together – "No, Lord." If He's really our Lord, we've got to say "Yes, Lord" and trust Him with our lives.

Picture this:  It was a chill, rainy Tuesday evening in April, and I was just playing around on my laptop while some YouTube instrumental music played in the background. Suddenly, a tune caught my ear and I realized it was a song I used to know! I started humming along, but couldn’t remember the title. Thank goodness for Google, right? I searched it up and found the song I used to sing with my choir buddies – “Knowing You Jesus” by Graham Kendrick.

This song always reminds me that Jesus is all I need, you know? Lately, I’ve been stressing over sales, the future, making the right choices for my family, and just worrying about life in general. And it’s not like I don’t know Jesus has my back, but sometimes I still get caught up in the earthly stuff.

When I remember what Jesus said in Matthew 6:25-27,  “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? it’s so clear that He’s telling me not to sweat the small stuff. But still, I find it hard to keep my eyes off my worries. The song’s opening lines really hit home, talking about how all the things we hold dear and build our lives upon – money, career, fame, control, dignity, pride, family, self-image, friends – are nothing compared to knowing Jesus.

It made me realize that when I’m worrying about the future and trying to please the world, I’m not really following Christ. Just like the song says, everything the world values is nothing compared to knowing Him. And that means I need to keep on getting to know Jesus, even when I can’t see what’s next. As Joyce Meyer says, there are two words you can’t put together – “No, Lord.” If He’s really our Lord, we’ve got to say “Yes, Lord” and trust Him with our lives.

So, What’s the one thing I could never earn but have by faith? It’s Jesus’ love! I mean, who would actually die for me? My family? My friends? Sure, we have fun hanging out, but that’s about it. Even my husband, who might take care of me when I’m sick, probably wouldn’t go that far. But Jesus? He chose to die for me.

Check out Romans 5:8-10: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!” So, like, we didn’t even know we were sinners or that Jesus loved us and cared for us. No amount of good behavior or good deeds can earn his love. He just chooses to love us, even when we’re all sinners.

No amount of good deeds or being on our best behavior can make Jesus love us more. He chose to love me, you, and everyone else, even when we know that we don’t deserve it. I mean, it’s tough to please someone you’re not cool with, right? Now imagine trying to please God, who’s all Holy and Righteous! That’s where Jesus’ love comes in, and it’s incredibly awesome.
